Five years ago Alicia decided it might be time for a change and inquired about a Turf Sales Representative job with Martin Deerline in High Prairie. Her educational background and work experience at that point was in advertising and communications, but she was ready for a new challenge!
Alicia may have thought she knew nothing about selling equipment but her charismatic personality and self-motivation to learn made her the perfect candidate for the job. She started the Turf Sales role with so much energy and enthusiasm and as she's expanded her product knowledge has become dedicated to building long lasting relationships with her clients and to finding the right piece of equipment to fill their needs.
Seeing the customers excitement when they purchase a compact tractor or Gator they have been saving up for makes for some of her best memories as she noted, “Lots of customers have saved for years to purchase a compact tractor and I get to help them fulfill their dreams.”
Alicia also loves getting to know her customers, and being that High Prairie is a small community lots of customers have turned into friends, “somedays at work it feels like you're just hanging out with one big family!” remarks Alicia. And it's not just the customers. She is also very thankful for her co-workers and the support she gets from the entire team, “the whole team here is amazing and has led to my sales success. I wouldn't be able to do my job without them!”
When asked what she likes most about working at Martin Deerline, she replied, “the outstanding leadership that has provided me with guidance and support. They are always there to help me solve problems! And the family feel! I get to work with amazing customers and co-workers!”
As for her advice for others joining the MD team, she noted, “Your success is based on your willingness to achieve - Martin Deerline wants you to excel and do well. Be open-minded and take self-initiative to grow in your role. Management is paying attention and will recognize and acknowledge the efforts you put in.”
Switching gears to equipment, Alicia is fond of the entire line-up of John Deere equipment she sells and likes to find the right match for the customers situation. But if she was to pick a favorite piece it would be the 590M Gator. “It's a small XUV with attitude, it has so much power for the size of it and rides so nice. When not at work Alicia enjoys reading, puzzling, listening to true crime podcasts and of course being a mom to her son! And when she can she loves to visit her siblings that are scattered throughout Alberta and spoil her nieces and nephews.
